Melbourne 2015 (Day 6)

16 Feb '15

On our second day in Melbourne we had brunch at St. Ali.

Cappuccino - $4.2

Smoke & Mirrors - $22

It's a chargrilled tasmanian salmon on rye, cottage cheese, local foraged sea herbs, beetroot puree & preserved lemon. The fish was cooked "medium-rare", I was afraid to taste it at first since I didn't really eat raw fish, but it turned out to be good. The fish was lightly seasoned, and it was so soft with no fishy smell at all. And their beetroot puree was also good, much much better than the one I had in Hunter Valley.

Koo Coo Ca Choo - $22.5
Potato hash with mushroom duxelle, poached eggs, Gruyere baked field mushrooms, chlorophyll & truffle vinaigrette. The mushroom duxelle was soft and a little bit chewy, the potato hash was crispy outside - soft inside and not greasy. It was good and tasty.

2nd stop: Chez Dre

So pretty, right? I wish I could have them all.

Lychee, Raspberry, Coconut - $9.5

Chocolate Apricot Sacher - $9.5

Both were good, the Chocolate Apricot Sacher was not too sweet and overwhelming, and there's also a crunchy layer in it. The Lychee, Raspberry, Coconut was sweet and tangy from the raspberry jelly and lemon curd.

Our 3rd stop : Brighton Beach!

After taking tons of pictures we went to Seven Seeds.

Soy Latte - $4
Hot Chocolate - $4.5
Since I'm not a coffee drinker, I ordered their soy latte, and it was good! The latte was smooth and wasn't that bitter. The hot chocolate was also nice, it was yummy and I like how it wasn't overly sweet. But after I drank half of it, and then all the chocolate has melted, the remaining hot chocolate became too sweet, should have wait until all the chocolate is melted first. ><

5th stop: Brunetti

Pear and Cheese Crumble - $7.1
The place was quite huge, not only cakes but they also have ice cream, pizzas and others. We tried their Pear and Cheese Crumble. It's a philadelhia cream cheesecake baked with poached pears, blackcurrant jam and finished with a biscuit crumble. The cheesecake was dense, smooth and not too sweet.

Strolling around for a bit before we had our dinner

St. Patrick's Cathedral
And finally it's dinner time, our 6th stop- Darac Grill & Bar

Soft Tofu Sausage Stew (Medium/for 2-3px) $29
Ramen - $3

We ordered their Spicy Sausage Stew/Korean Army Stew, they have 6 kind of stews: Seafood Sausage Stew, Spicy Seafood Sausage Stew, Pork Shabushabu Sausage Stew, Soft Tofu Sausage Stew, Tuna Sausage Stew and Cheese Kimchi Sausage Stew. You can also order their extras, like extra ramen ($3), extra combo 1 (ramen, sausage, cheese and vegetables/$7), extra combo 2 (ramen, sausage, cheese, dumplings and vegetables/$9) or extra udon noodle ($5).

We opted for their Soft Tofu Sausage Stew (Medium/$29), it's for 2-3pax. Or you can order the Large one, cost $38 for 3-4pax. I'm also eyeing their extra combo 2 which have dumplings in it. But after I saw the stew portion, I didn't dare to order it. We ordered their ramen ($3) and rice ($2) instead.

Our last stop before we went back to our hotel : Federation Square!
